DescriptionThe whole story▼

A bigger bike like the 500 EXC-F is heavier to pick up after a tip-over than the smaller models in the range, and that added weight means a fall puts noticeably more force through whatever the bike lands on, the axle blocks included. Accossato's RCM1 covers the 500 EXC-F built from 2000 to 2018, a pair of rear axle blocks with their own adjusting screw for setting chain tension.

Key Features

  • Rear axle blocks for the KTM 500 EXC-F, 2000 to 2018
  • Accossato code RCM1, supplied as a pair, left and right
  • Each block carries its own adjusting screw for chain tension
  • Orange, black or silver
  • Also listed for a wide run of Husqvarna four-strokes sharing this swingarm
  • Accossato's RTM1 covers the same bike without the adjusting screw
  • No German ABE on file; built for off-road and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Each RCM1 block sits at the end of the swingarm in place of the stock part, built with its own screw so tension can be set from that single point. Orange, black or silver make up the finishes, usually chosen to match the rest of the bike. A block that has cracked or no longer sits flush after a hard fall is worth replacing rather than left on a bike this heavy.

A Heavier Bike Falls Harder

Every kilogram a bike carries adds to how hard it lands when it goes over, and the 500 EXC-F being the heaviest machine in this part of the range means a low-speed tip-over that a smaller bike would shrug off can leave more of a mark here, including on parts tucked away at the swingarm ends. Checking the axle blocks after any fall on this particular bike, rather than assuming a slow tip-over could not have done real damage, is worth the extra attention its weight calls for. A block that looks only lightly marked is still worth a proper inspection before trusting it again.

Fitment and Compatibility

The RCM1 appears on Accossato's list for the 500 EXC-F across 2000 to 2018, a long run worth checking against the actual frame year. A number of Husqvarna four-strokes sharing this swingarm take the identical pair. Riders who prefer the stock method of chain adjustment can fit the RTM1 instead, in the same position.

Road Approval

No German ABE is on file for the RCM1, so Accossato lists it for off-road and competition use rather than for use on public roads.
