DescriptionThe whole story▼
When the Panigale 1199 appeared for 2012, it broke with Ducati superbike tradition: instead of a steel trellis frame, its twin carried an aluminium monocoque that doubled as the airbox. More than a decade later, many 1199s are in the hands of second or third owners, and a good number have found a new life on the grids of club race meetings, where a fast older superbike is both welcome and within reach. For the Panigale 1199 of 2012 to 2015, Accossato makes the PF033, a pair of black front axle sliders.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Panigale 1199, 2012 to 2015
- Accossato part PF033, one protector for each side
- Aluminium combined with plastic, finished in black
- Spacers, screws and further mounting parts in the kit, as stated by Accossato
- Meant to touch down first if the bike falls or slides
- Also listed in our shop for the Panigale 899 and 959
- No German ABE on file; for racing and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, founded in 1969 in Moncalieri near Turin, builds the PF033 from aluminium and plastic, and both protectors come in black. One goes on each side of the front wheel, and the maker packs spacers, screws and every other part it regards as necessary for mounting into the same kit. The purpose is modest and practical. If the Panigale 1199 slides or topples, the sliders should be the first parts of its front end to meet the ground, which can reduce the damage to the fork and the axle area. They are consumables: a slider that has ground down or cracked in a fall is replaced, not reused.
A Second Life on the Club Grid
Club racing is organised by clubs and associations rather than by the factories, and each organiser writes its own technical rules. Before you convert a Panigale 1199, get the current regulations and read them twice. They normally say what has to come off, such as lights, mirrors and the number plate, what may stay, how fluids and fasteners are to be treated and which protection parts are permitted. At the meeting itself, the bike goes through scrutineering, where officials check it over before it is allowed onto the track. A loose, cracked or badly worn slider can send you back to the paddock to fix it, so look at yours the evening before, not in the queue. Bring spares, because a weekend with practice, qualifying and races offers plenty of chances for a small off. After any fall, present the bike again only when fork, levers and sliders have been checked. On a club grid, the organiser's rules always come before anything written here.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the PF033 for the Panigale 1199 of 2012 to 2015, and our listing follows those years exactly. No other Accossato protection part is listed for this model. In our shop, the same sliders are also catalogued for the Panigale 899 and the Panigale 959. To be sure about your own Panigale 1199, compare it with the list or send us the details from the registration document before you order. After fitting, tighten the screws as the workshop manual specifies, then spin the front wheel and turn the bars from lock to lock: nothing may touch.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no other test document for the PF033 that we could pass on, so we sell these sliders for racing and competition use.
