DescriptionThe whole story▼
A low-side on track does not always end with scuffed fairings alone. When a Yamaha YZF-R7 slides along the tarmac and into the gravel, the front wheel and its discs can take knocks that are not obvious at first sight. Accossato's DKS073 is a floating front disc listed for the R7 of 2022. Measured across, it is 298 mm; the ring is 5 mm thick, the bore 132 mm, and five 8.5 mm holes on a 150 mm circle hold its black carrier to the wheel.
Key Features
- Floating front disc for the Yamaha YZF-R7, 2022
- 298 mm diameter, 5 mm thickness, 132 mm bore
- Five 8.5 mm holes on a 150 mm hole circle
- Black carrier
- Interchangeable with the original disc, as stated by the supplier
- Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- One disc per purchase; two sit on the R7's front wheel
- No German ABE documented; for racing and track use
Construction and Material Quality
The DKS073 combines a black carrier and a friction ring, linked by rivets that let the ring float. That play allows the hot ring to expand without bending the carrier. In the supplier's words it is interchangeable with original equipment discs. Accossato says it has examined the tolerances and clearances of that joint in depth, an approach it traces back to its racing work, and each of its discs carries its minimum working thickness in print.
After a Crash
Once the R7 is back in the paddock, check the front brake before anything else. Spin the wheel and watch each disc against the caliper: a disc that wobbles has probably been bent in the impact. Look at the carrier, the rivets and the outer edge for cracks or chips, since gravel and kerbs can damage the ring. Make sure the caliper still sits square, that its mounting lugs are not cracked and that lever and hose have survived. A disc that has hit the ground should be replaced if there is any doubt about it; a disc costs far less than a brake failure on the next lap. If the fork or the wheel has taken a hard hit, have them checked as well before the next session.
Fitment and Compatibility
Only one model year of the YZF-R7 appears for the DKS073 on Accossato's list: 2022, entered as YZF 700 R7. Two discs are fitted at the front, and the price applies to one. Accossato's alternative is the DK077 from its Elite line, identical in size.
Road Approval
Without a German ABE or a documented type approval, the DKS073 is for track riding and racing.
