DescriptionThe whole story▼
A rock garden is a stretch of trail where the ground is more stone than soil: boulders from football size upwards, packed together with no clear line between them. Riders cross it slowly, and a GasGas EC 300 suits the job, since the big two-stroke will pull at low revs while the rider picks a way through. The real work happens at the clutch, slipped and released again and again within a few minutes. Accossato's C7283 is a folding clutch lever for the EC 300 from 2003 to 2015, machined in Italy from Ergal 7075.

- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black, blue, orange or red; dark base
- One lever

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato has an enduro world title to its name, won in 1985, and rocky ground is exactly where its off-road levers are meant to earn their keep. The C7283 is milled from solid Ergal 7075 on CNC machines in Italy. This aluminium alloy has high strength, and the company's aims for the lever are strength, low weight and reliability. It is built as two parts, a dark base at the clutch pivot and a coloured blade connected to it by a joint. The clutch blade is long, designed so that four fingers can rest on it.
Through the Rock Garden
The trick in a rock garden is to keep moving. Stop, and restarting on uneven stones is hard; go too fast, and every rock throws the front wheel around. Most riders settle into a rhythm of short bursts: a slip of the clutch to lift the front onto the next stone, a moment of drive to push the rear up behind it, a pull to stop the wheel spinning when it lands on a slick face. The EC 300's engine is strong enough that the throttle can stay almost still, leaving the left hand to do the fine work.
Rock gardens also claim a lot of levers. When a wheel slips off a boulder the bike drops suddenly, and the handlebar comes down on stone with no soil to soften the blow. On the left side, the clutch lever takes it. Hinged to its base, the C7283's blade can fold forward rather than break at the point of contact. That improves the chances of getting through with a working clutch but does not guarantee them; a sharp rock at the wrong angle can still do damage. For a bike ridden in such terrain, it is a practical choice.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the GasGas EC 300 of 2003 to 2015, the C7283 replaces the original lever at the clutch mount. For 2012 and 2013 Accossato also names a second clutch lever, the C7284, which it lists again for the 2018 and 2019 bikes. The folding brake lever for the EC 300 is the B8206, listed for 2003 to 2019. Red is offered on this clutch lever but not on the C7284.
Road Approval
Accossato documents no German ABE for the C7283. Registered or not, an EC 300 with this lever is not approved for public roads; the lever is intended for off-road riding.
