DescriptionThe whole story▼
The first slide of a track season tends to come early, on a cool morning, before tyres and rider are fully up to temperature. An RSV4 that slips into the gravel at low speed usually comes back with scraped panels and one pressing question: is there still a brake lever? Accossato's LV012 is a folding brake lever for the RSV4 in the model years Accossato lists, 2011 to 2012 and 2015 to 2018. Its coloured blade hangs on a hinge from a black base, the reach is adjustable, and it mounts on the original master cylinder.
Key Features
- Folding brake lever for the Aprilia RSV4, 2011 to 2012 and 2015 to 2018
- Fits the original brake master cylinder
- Hinged blade, able to fold back in a fall
- Adjustable reach to the grip
- RST cut-out in the blade, or solid NRST
- Seven colours: black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver
- Standard blade length
- Track use; no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Every part of the LV012 begins as aluminium and is shaped on CNC machines, then anodised. The result is a lever in two colours and two pieces. The black base is the part that stays attached to the RSV4's master cylinder, holding the pivot and the reach adjuster. The blade is the part you touch and see, in any of seven colours, and a joint connects it to the base so that it can fold. Riders who want to shave a little weight can order the RST blade with its lightening cut-out.
Gravel, Marshals and the Way Back
A slow slide on an RSV4 is over quickly. The bike skates across the kerb, digs into the gravel trap and stops on its side, with the right-hand lever pressed into stones or grass. Marshals help lift it, and depending on the circuit's rules the rider may be allowed to ride back to the pits carefully or has to wait for the recovery vehicle. What happens next depends on what broke. A lever snapped at its base is a common result of such falls, and without a spare the day can end there. The folding blade of the LV012 improves the odds: if the lever is forced back, the hinge can let the blade swing aside and take less of the load. That is no guarantee, and gravel will still scratch or dent the aluminium, but a folded blade can often be swung back into place and inspected before the next session.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list for the LV012 on the RSV4 contains a gap. It covers the RSV4 Factory APRC of 2011 and 2012, the Racing Factory LE of 2015 to 2017 and the Racing Factory of 2018, but not the model years 2013 and 2014. For these bikes Accossato also offers the RA001, which adds a remote adjuster to the folding blade and is listed for 2011 to 2018 without a gap. Check your model year against that gap before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on file for the LV012. Its intended place is the race track, and that is how we sell it.
