DescriptionThe whole story▼
With a single round instrument, cast wheels and plain paint, the V7 III Stone is the most stripped-back member of Moto Guzzi's V7 III family. A low seat and easy manners have made the V7 a common choice for riders moving up to their first larger motorcycle, and for many of them the reach to the controls matters as much as the engine. The Accossato EDF016 replaces the Stone's brake lever for the 2017 to 2020 model years. Its distance to the grip can be adjusted, and it is made in three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the V7 III Stone, 2017 to 2020
- Also listed for the V7 Carbon and Rough, 2018 to 2020
- Fits the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable, useful for smaller hands
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange and silver
- Standard blade, approximately 138 mm, in all seven colours
- Machined aluminium, anodised, rigid one-piece blade
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato starts with aluminium and lets CNC cutters remove material until only the finished lever remains, a method that produces a stiff part without surplus weight. The finish is anodised: black on the hub, where the pivot bore and the adjuster are, and your chosen colour on the blade. Because that colour is part of the oxide layer rather than a coating on top, a light knock against a garage wall is less likely to leave a chip. There is no joint in the EDF016, only one continuous piece from hub to tip, so the lever always comes back to the same resting position.
When the Lever Feels Too Far Away
A brake lever that sits too far from the grip is a familiar complaint among riders with smaller hands, and it is more than a matter of comfort. If the fingertips only just reach the blade, the first part of the squeeze is weak and hesitant, and in a sudden stop the hand may have to let go of the grip to find the lever. On the V7 III Stone, the adjuster near the pivot lets you bring the blade closer until it meets your fingers around the first joint while the palm stays where it belongs. Set it in the gloves you actually ride in, sitting on the bike as you would on the road. Blade length is the second choice. The short blade is sized for two-finger braking and leaves less lever to reach around; the standard one is closest to the original. Riders who like to brake with the whole hand can pick the long blade, made in blue, gold, green and orange, which adds leverage at the tip.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF016 for the V7 III Stone of 2017 to 2020. The same catalogue entry also names the V7 Carbon and V7 Rough of 2018 to 2020. The lever goes on the Stone's own master cylinder. If you want a matching pair, the ESD037 is the clutch lever for the same years.
Road Approval
As no German ABE is on record for this lever, it is supplied for circuit use.
Scope of Delivery
