On gravel and dry dirt the load on an air filter is not merely higher than on tarmac — it is a different kind of load, made of particles small enough that a coarse medium never had a realistic chance of catching them.

Key Features

Dry non-woven medium — never oiled, so there is nothing to wash out and nothing to re-apply

Filtration down to 14 microns, against 80 microns for the standard P08

Air flow 1,800 l/m²/sec — the price finer retention costs, and the reason this is a choice rather than an upgrade

Direct replacement in the standard airbox — no modification, no remap

Washable and reusable; compressed air from the clean side restores it

Two-year warranty from the date of purchase

Where fourteen microns stops being a specification

Behind a vehicle on a dry unsealed road, the visible cloud is the coarse fraction and it settles quickly. What hangs in the air, and what a rider goes on breathing and an engine goes on drawing, is the fine fraction — and it is measured in the range the P14 was made for. Six times finer retention than the standard P08 is not a marginal improvement in that setting; it is the difference between catching the abrasive part and passing it through to the bore.

And the case for going finer still

Honesty about the range matters here. If your Enduro genuinely lives in desert or heavy off-road conditions, Sprint Filter's T12 goes further again — 7 microns, at 560 litres per square metre per second — and that is the element for those conditions. The P14 at 1,800 l/m²/sec sits deliberately between it and the road-going P08 at 5,050: enough retention for unsealed roads, enough flow that a 1200 cc twin on the connecting tarmac is not being held back. Choose by where the motorcycle spends its time. All three are dry, oil-free and cleaned with compressed air.

Care and cleaning

Blow it through from the clean side with compressed air, working outwards — a non-woven medium releases dust readily and needs nothing else in normal use. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and let it dry fully in air; never with heat, never with a flame. Refit it dry. There is no oiling step and never has been.
