The standard part and the racing part are separated by a suffix. PM209S is the woven element listed for road and track use in this airbox; PM209S F1-85 is the racing cloth, and those five extra characters are not a colour code or a packaging variant. They stand for 85 microns instead of 80, for 15,000 l/m²/sec instead of 5,050, and for close to three and a half times what the standard element asks. Suffixes are the first thing a search box, a marketplace listing or a hurried order drops, so the code on the label is worth more attention than the name above it.
Key Features
- PM209S F1-85 is the racing cloth for this housing, not a version of the standard part
- Dry woven polyester, 85 microns of filtration at a rated 15,000 l/m²/sec
- Retention measured at 95.22 % of 100-micron particles
- Fits the series SRT 550 SX airbox directly — nothing cut, nothing remapped
- Roughly twice the filtering fabric of an ordinary performance element
- Never oiled, cleaned with compressed air, two years of warranty from purchase
Where a suffix goes missing
Part codes lose their tails easily. A listing title runs out of room, an autocomplete offers the shorter string, a note scribbled at a service is read back a month later without the last block of characters. In most catalogues that would only produce a delay. Here it produces an element that fits the same box, seals in the same frame and behaves quite differently once air is going through it — which is the sort of mistake that gets discovered slowly, if at all. Two codes, one airbox: read the whole of the one on the packaging against the whole of the one you meant to order.
Which of the two an SRT 550 SX is asking for
The price relation answers that more honestly than any description could. A part catalogued at close to three and a half times the standard one is not being offered as the sensible default; it is a racing specification, sold to people who have a specific use for 15,000 l/m²/sec and know what that use is. For an SRT 550 SX ridden on the road, the standard code is the one the range points at. And whichever of them ends up in the box, the same limit applies to both: a slot-in element does not make a standard SRT 550 SX noticeably stronger, and no weave changes that.
Care and cleaning
Service it with an air line directed at the downstream side, sweeping outwards so the weave gives up its load in the direction it arrived from. Oily contamination that air leaves behind releases in lukewarm water with a small amount of mild detergent; rinse until the water runs clear. Drying is done in open, moving air with no heat applied at any point, and the PM209S F1-85 goes back into the housing dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Listed for the QJ Motor SRT 550 SX built from 2023 to 2025, one element per machine. Five bikes across QJ Motor and Benelli carry this racing code; the complete list is in the Fitment tab.
