DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 010 takes the PAIR solenoid off the crossplane R1 and keeps the fault code away.
Key Features
- Yamaha R1 (2009–2024)
- Removes the PAIR secondary air solenoid
- Suppresses the resulting dashboard fault
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
- No cutting and no splicing
- Fully reversible to standard
The Crossplane Crank
Yamaha brought the M1's uneven firing order to a production motorcycle in 2009. The R1 stopped sounding like an inline four and started sounding like nothing else on sale.
Fifteen Model Years
The fitment runs from 2009 through to 2024, covering both the original crossplane bike and the 2015 redesign. Yamaha kept the emissions architecture consistent throughout.
What Gets Removed
The solenoid that controls secondary air injection into the exhaust ports. It exists for emissions testing and it does nothing for the way the engine runs.
The Overrun Noise
Popping on a closed throttle is fresh air meeting unburnt fuel in a hot header. Remove the air and the noise stops, without touching a single fuelling value.
Mapping Honestly
The lambda sensor cannot distinguish injected air from a lean mixture. Any serious fuelling work on an R1 begins with the PAIR system disconnected and blanked.
A Fault at Every Start
The ECU checks the solenoid immediately. Without this unit the warning is permanent, which on a bike with a display this comprehensive is impossible to ignore.
The Head Ports
A separate cover blanks them. The two parts are halves of one job and fitting only one leaves it unfinished.
Emissions Approval
Removing the system puts the motorcycle outside its registration. That makes this a closed-circuit modification wherever the rules are enforced.
Reversible
Yamaha's own connector, nothing spliced anywhere. The solenoid refits for an inspection with no evidence of the intervening period.
A Firing Order From MotoGP
Yamaha took the crossplane crankshaft directly from the M1 and put it into a production motorcycle in 2009, which no manufacturer had attempted before. The resulting traction feel changed what riders expected from a litre bike and every rival has been answering it since.
