DescriptionThe whole story▼
Two conical titanium mufflers stacked under the tail — the Hypermotard has always worn its exhaust as the loudest visual statement on the bike, and the Akrapovic Slip-On Line (Titanium) S-D9SO15-HCBT makes the most of it. The twin conical shape comes straight out of Grand Prix practice, the material is high-grade titanium throughout, and the system holds EC and ECE type approval on a machine whose character does not usually survive the compliance process.
Key Features
- Twin conical mufflers in high-grade titanium, a shape taken directly from Grand Prix exhaust practice
- 1.2 PS (0.9 kW) more power at 9,000 rpm and 0.9 Nm more torque at 7,100 rpm against the standard system
- Race-derived material choice that reduces mass at the very top of the bike, where the Hypermotard's tall, short-wheelbase geometry is most sensitive to it
- Fits the standard Hypermotard 950, the SP and the RVE without changes
- Noise insert included for track days with a decibel limit
- EC and ECE type approved, plus EPA noise compliance
- Installation in about 45 minutes with no remapping
Design and Material
The conical muffler is not a styling exercise. A cone gives a progressively increasing cross-section, which lets Akrapovic tune the pressure wave along the length of the can rather than at a single expansion step, and it is why the shape recurs on Grand Prix machinery. On the Hypermotard the pair of them sit high and stacked, which is the reason the bike's silhouette is recognisable from behind at any distance.
Titanium is used throughout. On a motorcycle this tall and this short in the wheelbase, mass carried high above the rear wheel has a disproportionate effect on how quickly it will change direction, and moving the exhaust from steel to titanium is the cheapest meaningful way to address that.
Performance and Sound
Akrapovic records a solid gain across the rev range rather than a spike: 106.4 PS becomes 107.6 PS, and peak torque rises from 91.6 Nm to 92.1 Nm with the largest gain, 0.9 Nm, at 7,100 rpm. The Testastretta twin is not an engine that responds to a slip-on with double-digit power figures, and this listing does not claim otherwise.
The sound is where the change is obvious. A large-capacity 90-degree twin through two short conical titanium cans produces a hard, dry bark that the standard silencer flattens completely. A removable noise insert is included for circuits that impose their own limit.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-D9SO15-HCBT is developed for the Ducati Hypermotard 950 from model year 2019 through 2024 and fits the 950 SP and the 950 RVE without modification. It connects to the original header. Allow around 45 minutes: the twin-muffler layout takes longer to line up than a single-can slip-on.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, with EPA noise compliance in addition. The certificates ship with the system and are available for download here. Fitted as supplied, the exhaust is a legal replacement silencer for road use in the European Union.
