DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Z650 appeals to many shorter riders, and quite a few of them fit a lower seat to put both feet more firmly on the ground. It is a sensible change, but it also moves the rider in relation to the handlebar: sitting lower, the arms reach up and forward at a different angle, and the levers no longer meet the hands quite where they did. The Accossato ESK750 is a clutch lever for the Kawasaki Z650 of 2017 to 2020 that lets you restore a natural reach. It is CNC-machined from aluminium, anodised and fitted at the original clutch mounting, with an adjustable span.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Kawasaki Z650, 2017 to 2020
- Replaces the original lever at the clutch mounting
- Span adjustable, closer to the grip or further away
- Long blade in blue, gold, green and orange
- Standard blade (about 138 mm) in all seven colours; short blade in five
- Anodised aluminium, black hub
- No folding joint
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
A one-piece design keeps the ESK750 stiff: it is CNC-machined from aluminium as a single part, with no hinge between hub and tip that could flex when the fingers pull at the far end. The pivot and the span adjuster sit in the hub, which is anodised black on every lever; the blade is anodised in the colour of your choice, a finish that belongs to the aluminium rather than being a coat laid over it. It also shrugs off the small scuffs of daily use better than bare metal would.
A Lower Seat Changes the Reach
Lowering the seat changes two things at the controls. The wrists meet the grips from further below, so a clutch lever angled for the original seat can now point slightly upward relative to the hand; and shorter riders often have smaller hands too, so reach becomes an issue at the same time. Deal with the angle first. Sitting on the Z650 in your normal position, the lever should run in line with your forearm; if it does not, the clutch mounting can be turned slightly on the bar. Then set the ESK750's span so your fingers meet the blade between the first and second joints without stretching. Check the full pull as well, so that the fingers are not trapped against the grip when the clutch is disengaged. If the pull feels heavy after the change, the long blade adds leverage; it is made in blue, gold, green and orange.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the ESK750 for the Kawasaki Z650, entry Z 650, from 2017 to 2020, and it fits the original clutch mounting of those bikes. The EDF021 brake lever covers a longer span, 2017 to 2024, so owners of a 2017 to 2020 Z650 can equip both sides, while for later bikes only the brake lever is listed.
Road Approval
No German ABE, the general operating permit, has been documented for the ESK750, and it is sold for the track.
