Inner tubes carry a low-friction coating; once it is through, the seals wear quickly.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 04731-12

What It Is

This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. Axle clamps and lower legs are machined to hold the axle without distorting the fork. A marked inner tube destroys seals repeatedly until it is replaced. Fork parts are specific to the fork, not to the motorcycle it happens to be fitted to.

Why the Original

This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. Buying the individual part rather than a complete assembly is what makes servicing an Öhlins unit worthwhile. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order.

Getting the Number Right

Part number 04731-12 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. This position has no published dimension, so the part number is the only reliable identifier. Fork legs are matched left and right on most Öhlins forks and are listed separately. Cartridge tubes sit inside the fork leg and do the actual damping.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 04731-12

Category: Inner Tubes

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/04731-12_c5178e46-dd0f-489d-ad18-77d662913b54.png?v=1788872849
