A soft reservoir usually means the bladder has failed rather than the gas has leaked. A hose-mounted reservoir lets the damper be fitted where a piggyback would not go. The separating piston or bladder inside keeps gas and oil apart; if it fails, the damping goes with it.

Why the Original

The part is identical to what Öhlins fits in production — same supplier, same specification. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise.

Getting the Number Right

Part number 00636-17 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. dimension a 12 mm, dimension b 12 mm, dimension c 240 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Hose length is part of the installation and cannot be substituted freely. Hose-mounted reservoirs allow installation where a piggyback would foul the chassis.

Fitting and Setup Service

A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 00636-17

Category: Hoses

Dimension A: 12 mm

Dimension B: 12 mm

Dimension C: 240 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/00636-17_240b2b43-2def-4e81-b008-3cb30039a9a2.png?v=1788869958
