Ninja H2s tend to cover very few hours. They are kept, cleaned, ridden on chosen days and put away again. That pattern is the awkward fact behind this element, because the two halves of what it offers do not accrue at the same rate. Flow is collected only in the moments the engine draws everything the box can pass — a fraction of a fraction of the hours such a bike runs. Filtration applies to all of them, the slow ride out of town included. Whether to fit a PM153S F1-85 is mostly a question of how many hours of the first kind this particular H2 sees.
Key Features
- Dry woven polyester in the F1-85 racing specification, with no oil used on it
- 85 microns of filtration at 15,000 l/m²/sec, the highest flow rate in the range
- Retention measured at 95.22 % of 100-micron particles, against 93.13 % for the P08
- About double the filtering area of other performance elements
- Fits the unmodified series airbox in place of the paper panel — no cutting, no remap
- Cleaned with compressed air and put back; two years of warranty from purchase
Counting hours instead of horsepower
Nobody should buy this element for output. A panel inside a series airbox does not make a standard H2 noticeably faster — a filter hands back only the restriction it introduced. The reason to consider the racing cloth is headroom at the top of the demand curve, and headroom is worth exactly what it gets used for. Track days, a licensed circuit, whole sessions spent in the upper half of the rev range: those hours make the case. Weekend roads and bike meets do not, and there is no shame in concluding that the standard element is the right one.
The half that never stops running
The filtration side applies continuously and does not care what the odometer says. Opening the weave from 80 to 85 microns is a deliberate move toward flow; the published retention figures still favour this cloth at 100 microns, 95.22 against 93.13 per cent, but the finer weave keeps its advantage where the load is finest, and a machine living on public roads meets far more of that fine load than of anything else. An element sitting for months in a closed airbox also collects whatever the garage has to offer, so the first act of the season should be an air line through the cloth.
Care and cleaning
Dry throughout. Compressed air against the clean face, blown outwards, is a complete clean in normal circumstances. After rain or a salted road, lukewarm water with a little mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear, then a full dry in moving air — never with heat and never over a flame. The element goes back dry and unoiled, seated evenly in its groove. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Listed for the Kawasaki ZX1000 Ninja H2 from 2015 to 2026, and through the shared airbox for the Bimota Tesi H2 and Tesi H2 Tera as well — three machines in total, all named under the Fitment tab. The same box takes the P08, the P14 and the T12, which between them cover every setting from racing flow to 7-micron retention.
