The Moto GP Case

Of the shapes Spark builds for this motorcycle, the Moto GP is the short one. The case is stubby rather than long, with a wide round outlet, and it sits close to the subframe instead of reaching back past the tail. On a naked bike that keeps the visual weight forward, which is the opposite of what the long Grid-O cases do.

It is also the design Spark carries across its range from the small singles up to the Super Duke, so the shape on a 790 is the same shape as on a 1290.

Which 790 It Fits

Spark lists this kit for the DUKE 790 of 2018 to 2020 — the original Austrian-built generation, before the model was dropped and reintroduced. If your Duke is a 2023 or later 790, or an 890, this is not the number; those take the Grid-O kits GKT0110TOM and GKT0115TOM, or the Euro5+ Dyno kits.

We follow Spark's own model list here rather than the broader grouping in the dealer price list, because the fitment on the article page is the more specific of the two.

Euro 4, and What That Means Now

Spark describes these silencers as the Euro 4 generation and lists the article as approved. That approval is what it is: it was issued against the standard the motorcycle itself was type-approved to, which for a 2018 to 2020 790 Duke is Euro 4.

For the bike it was made for, that is the correct paperwork. It does not transfer to a later Euro5 machine, and it is worth knowing before ordering if the Duke in your garage is not the one on the registration document you were expecting.

The Catalyst Stays

A 3/4 kit begins after the standard collector, which means the catalytic converter is untouched. That is the reason Spark can offer this configuration with an approval at all, and it is also why the tuning work sits in the pipe diameters rather than in what was taken out.

Installation

Slip-on level: the kit mounts onto the standard catalysed collector, so the catalytic converter stays on the motorcycle. Both silencers sit high, one each side, on a 1-into-2 pipe.
