Two Buttons Means a Race Switch
A two-button right switch is almost always a competition part: on a prepared bike the right side carries a starter and a kill switch and nothing else. This clamp is cut for those short housings, and it ships with several of JetPrime's Sport and SuperSport switches.
When to Buy One Separately
If the switch came with a clamp, this part is a spare. If the mounting was damaged in a fall — which on a race bike is a matter of when rather than whether — a replacement clamp costs a fraction of a new switch.
Aligned Holes
This version is drilled for master cylinders whose two clamp bolts sit level with one another. Race bikes very often run aftermarket cylinders, so check the arrangement on the machine as assembled rather than assuming from the model.
Two Buttons Is a Race Specification
On a prepared motorcycle the right-hand side carries a starter and an engine cut-out and nothing else, because everything else went with the road loom. That is why two-button housings exist and why this clamp turns up almost exclusively on machines built for circuits rather than roads.
Supplied, Then Needed Again
Several of JetPrime's Sport and SuperSport switches include this clamp in the box. Owners of those bikes usually meet it for the first time when the original is damaged, and discovering it can be bought on its own rather than as part of a new switch is a considerable relief.
A Spare in the Van
Racing paddocks run on the parts somebody remembered to bring. A clamp costs very little, weighs nothing and is the component most likely to stop a bike going out after a low-speed spill in practice. It belongs in the same box as the levers and the bar-ends.
