DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Tiger 900 replaced the 800 with a T-plane crank and a substantially different character. The JP PDQ TR039 carries its right-hand controls where a quick throttle is fitted.
Key Features
- Triumph Tiger 900 (2020–2024)
- For quick-action throttle installations
- Titanium anodised Ergal 7075
- CNC-machined from solid
- Military-specification switch elements
- Pre-wired for the original connector
Uneven Firing on Purpose
Triumph gave the 900 triple a T-plane crankshaft so that it fires at irregular intervals, producing distinct pulses of torque rather than a smooth stream. Off road that gives the rear tyre time to hook up between power strokes, and on tarmac it gives the engine a character the 800 never had.
Rally and GT
The range splits into road-biased GT models with cast wheels and off-road Rally versions with a 21 inch spoked front and longer travel. The Rally Pro in particular is a genuinely capable machine that a competent rider can take a long way from tarmac.
The Case for a Short Action
Riders using the Rally versions on gravel want the throttle's full range reachable while standing, in one wrist movement, wearing gloves. It is a control argument rather than a performance one and it is the commonest reason this conversion is done on an adventure bike.
What Has to Be Replaced
The standard cluster comes off with the throttle tube it is built around. This unit restores the starter and kill controls independently, wired to Triumph's own connector so the electronics see no change at all.
Adjustable for a Standing Rider
The bar clamp lets the switch be rotated and slid to suit someone on the pegs, which is a different position from the one the factory designed around and the reason an independent mounting is worth having.
Built for Grit
Sealed military-specification elements in a machined body with no seam. Dust is what kills switchgear on an adventure bike, and it enters through joints that this housing does not have.
