DescriptionThe whole story▼
The NT1100 is Honda's answer to a specific question: what if the Africa Twin engine went touring instead of off-road? Same 1,084 cc parallel twin, road wheels, a fairing, hard luggage as standard. This silencer is tuned for that answer — the gains sit at 4,200 and 4,400 rpm, which is motorway cruising in top gear.
Key Features
- 3.9 kg against the standard 5.4 kg: 1.5 kg and 27.8 per cent less
- 3.7 Nm more at 4,400 rpm and 1.5 PS (1.1 kW) at 4,200 rpm — both in the touring band
- Titanium outer sleeve over a stainless steel inner, with a stainless link pipe
- Carbon fibre end cap and a heat shield sized to protect a passenger and strapped-on gear
- Dual-flow muffler, two exits from one body
- Compatible with Honda's original side cases and the centre stand
- Plug-and-play: EC and ECE type approved, no remapping needed
Tuned for the Rev Range a Tourer Uses
Peak power barely moves — 98.0 to 98.4 PS — and that is not where the work went. At 4,400 rpm the engine gains 3.7 Nm, and on a bike geared for long distances that is the band you hold for hours at a time. A tourer that pulls harder from 4,000 rpm is a better tourer; a tourer with two more horsepower at 7,600 rpm is the same tourer.
The Heat Shield Has a Job
Titanium runs hot on the outside, and the NT1100 is a bike that carries a passenger and gets loaded with soft bags on top of its hard cases. The carbon fibre heat shield here is specified to protect both — it is not styling, and it is included rather than sold separately.
Same Engine as the Africa Twin, Different Exhaust
The NT1100 uses Honda's 1,084 cc parallel twin from the CRF1100L Africa Twin, and that shared engine leads a lot of owners to assume the exhaust parts interchange. They do not. The Africa Twin's silencer sits higher and further back to clear the longer travel and the rally-style tail; the NT1100's mounting is a road-touring layout. Each has its own Akrapovic part number, and this one is the NT1100's.
The same applies in reverse. If you are shopping for a CRF1100L, look for S-H11SO4-HAFT or S-H11SO2-HGJT depending on the model year — not this.
The DCT Version Takes It Too
A large share of NT1100s sold in Europe are the DCT, with Honda's dual-clutch gearbox. That adds around 10 kg to the motorcycle and changes nothing about the exhaust path, so this silencer fits the DCT exactly as it fits the manual bike, and the published figures apply to both.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-H11SO3-HGIT covers the Honda NT1100 and the NT1100 DCT from model year 2022 through 2026. The dual-clutch version shares the engine, the frame and the exhaust routing, so the part and the figures apply to both. Installation is around 40 minutes.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, with the certificates supplied and downloadable here. The silencer is a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union.
