DescriptionThe whole story

Four and a half newton metres at 2,300 rpm. That is barely above idle on the new 1,300 cc boxer, and it is exactly where a fully loaded GS pulls away from a gravel junction or crawls up a rutted track in first gear.

Key Features

  • 4.5 Nm more at 2,300 rpm — the largest gain, and it sits at the very bottom of the range
  • 1.9 PS more at 7,600 rpm, peak output rising to 145.5 PS
  • Double-flow muffler in lightweight titanium with a handmade carbon fibre end cap
  • Black finish, developed from years of Akrapovic work with BMW's GS boxers
  • 2.05 kg against the standard 2.26 kg — a 0.2 kg saving, stated plainly
  • Twenty minutes to fit
  • EC and ECE type approved

Black or Titanium — the Same Silencer, Two Finishes

Akrapovic offers this system in two versions for the same motorcycles. S-B13SO4-HJGT is the natural titanium finish; this one, with BL in the part number, is the black-coated version. The dimensions, the weight and the measured figures are identical — the choice is purely which one suits your bike.

On an R 1300 GS in a dark colour scheme, or on the R 1300 R with its blacked-out engine cases, the coated version disappears into the machine instead of drawing the eye. On a light-coloured GS the natural titanium reads better.

Nine Per Cent, and Why That Is Not the Point

BMW's standard silencer on the R 1300 is already a light, compact unit at 2.26 kg — the company put real effort into it. A replacement that keeps the same acoustic volume and the same emissions hardware has little room left, and 0.2 kg is the honest result.

What you are buying is the torque at 2,300 rpm, the boxer sound the standard system holds back, and a finish that fits the motorcycle. Nobody should fit this expecting the bike to feel lighter.

One Thing to Know

No removable noise insert is supplied. The sound level is what the silencer produces as built — type approved at that level, but there is no quieter setting to fit for an early departure.

Twenty Minutes, and Nothing Else Touched

The R 1300's silencer sits exposed on the right with a single hanger and a clamp, so the job is genuinely short. The header, the catalytic converter and the engine management stay standard, no remapping is required, and the original unit refits just as quickly for a service visit or a sale.

The double-flow outlet is worth a word. Two exits from one body keep gas velocity up at the low revs where this system adds its torque, rather than trading that away for a number at the top the bike rarely sees.

Fitment and Compatibility

S-B13SO4-HJGTBL covers the BMW R 1300 GS and R 1300 R from model year 2024 through 2026.

Road Approval

EC type approval and ECE type approval, with the certificates supplied and downloadable here. The silencer is a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union.
