DescriptionThe whole story▼
Suzuki gave the SFV650 Gladius a trellis frame, a friendly twin-cylinder engine and styling that divided opinion from 2009 onwards. Time has been kind to it: the bikes are cheap, tough and forgiving, which is why so many of them now serve as first track machines for riders who do not want to risk anything expensive. Accossato lists the Gladius from 2009 to 2015 under the FC122, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium with the pawl available in six colours.

- No German ABE documented; sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Nothing but aluminium goes into this cap and all of it is shaped on CNC machines, which Accossato sums up as robust and durable. The design is a new one. Where the part earns its name is the quick-closing pawl, a mechanism that lets the Gladius stand with an open tank for the shortest possible time. Its pin is the visible piece of colour and is chosen from blue, green, black, red, silver and gold when the order is placed. Should the pawl be knocked or worn, Accossato lists it as a spare so the cap itself stays in use.
Rehearsing the Small Movements
Anything done under pressure is done worse than the same thing done calmly, and a pit lane is nothing but pressure in twenty-minute instalments. It is worth practising the small movements at home, in the garage, with nobody watching. Open and close the cap a few times, with gloves on and then without, and learn where your hand goes without looking. Do the same with the fuel can, the funnel and the stand. By the time the SFV650 Gladius is in a paddock with five minutes to the next call, the sequence runs itself and your attention is free for the things that actually change from session to session: the weather, the traffic and how the bike feels. Racers rehearse pit work for the same reason.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the SFV 650 Gladius from 2009 to 2015 for the FC122, which is the span this listing covers. The same cap is filed at Inter-Pace under the SV650, the GSX250R and the GSR750. Please compare your machine with the application list before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC122, so we supply it for closed circuits. On public roads the Gladius should keep the cap it came with, which normally opens with the ignition key.
