Four materials are catalogued for this airbox and they do not cover the same machines. The dust nonwoven is listed for four of the five 368s. The extreme material is listed for exactly one. Only two cover all five: the standard weave, and this racing one. That symmetry invites a flattering reading — it is offered to every 368, so it must suit every 368 — and the truth runs the other way. Why the widest listing is the weakest recommendation

Sprint Filter develops media by housing. Once an outline exists, every material that can be cut to it becomes a catalogue line, and the ones that do not appear everywhere are absent for a reason somebody thought about. Here the dust material skips one machine and the extreme material was drawn for one machine alone. This weave appears against all five because nothing in the geometry of a 368 excludes it — which is a statement about a shape, not about riding.

What the difference actually costs

Set against the standard element for the same box, this one asks a little over two and a third times as much. In exchange the mesh opens from 80 µm to 85, and the rated flow is roughly tripled. Both halves of that are real, and neither is worth much to a 368D on the road, because the engine can only draw what the throttle bodies, the ports and the map allow, and none of those change when a panel does. The racing weave is bought by riders holding full throttle high in the rev range, repeatedly, for whole sessions. Away from that duty cycle it is a more open filter for more outlay, which is a poor trade in both currencies.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air from the clean side outwards clears a dusty element, the load leaving by the route it arrived. Greasy build-up needs lukewarm water and a mild detergent, rinsed until the water coming off is clear. Drying happens in moving air at room temperature and nowhere else — no heat gun, no radiator, no flame, because polyester fails silently under heat — and the SM295S F1-85 goes back in dry and untreated.
