Every grade drawn for this airbox has the same outline and the same seat, which makes the racing weave interesting for a reason that has little to do with racing: it can be a second panel rather than a replacement one. Kept clean on a shelf, it is an event setting for the machine — fitted for the day, swapped back afterwards, with the ordinary element going in again for the ride home. Nothing has to be undone to do that, because the CM274S F1-85 occupies the standard box in the standard way, and the change takes as long as opening the lid twice.
Key Features
- Dry polyester weave rated at 85 µm, flowing 15,000 l/m²/sec
- Identical fit to the other grades of this family, so panels can be exchanged as required
- By Sprint Filter's own account the most used air filter in MotoGP, Moto3, World Superbike, Supersport and Superstock
- 95.22 % of 100-micron particles retained in the manufacturer's comparison measurement
- Around twice the filtering surface of other performance elements, in the unmodified airbox
- Cleaned and reused instead of discarded, two years of warranty from the purchase date
An element for the occasion
Owning two panels for one box is a small idea with a practical point behind it. The bike goes back to a known state after the event, and the panel that did the event can be washed at leisure instead of on the evening before work. It also separates two kinds of wear: whatever the day put into the racing weave stays out of the everyday element. None of this is exotic, and none of it involves a claim about power, because a drop-in element does not make a standard motorcycle noticeably stronger, on either panel.
The limit worth naming
An adventure machine complicates this, and the complication should be said out loud. If the event in question is a dusty one — a rally stage, unbound tracks, a day of following other riders — then the racing weave is the wrong end of the range to reach for, since it is the coarsest cloth Sprint Filter builds and the whole family runs the other way for exactly those conditions. The racing grade earns its rating where an engine is held at full load on a clean surface. Read the ground first, then the specification, and the choice makes itself.
Care and cleaning
Clean with air from the inside face outwards, which removes the load instead of driving it further in. Where the deposit is oily, lukewarm water with a little mild detergent and a rinse until the water runs clear will do what air cannot. Drying is unhurried and cool: no heater, no gun, no flame, and no refitting until it is genuinely dry, since a damp weave does not flow at its rating. Then it goes back untreated. Sprint Filter's cleaning instructions are in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 of 2024 to 2026. The same element is catalogued for the Guerrilla 450 of those years, so two machines share this number. The Fitment tab lists the years covered.
