What It Is
Dimensionally this is 48 mm, 551 mm, which is how it is told apart from the rest of the range. Inner tubes carry a low-friction coating; once it is through, the seals wear quickly. Outer tubes hold the bushings and the seal head, so their bore finish matters as much as the inner tube's outside. Axle clamps and lower legs are machined to hold the axle without distorting the fork.

An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it.
