DescriptionThe whole story▼
Cylinder tube, inner 46/49/121, Öhlins part number 06201-02. Öhlins hones its tubes to a defined surface finish rather than simply to a diameter.
Key Features
- Öhlins part number 06201-02
- Original Öhlins service part
- Diameter 46 mm
- Length 49 mm
Function
Öhlins publishes 46 mm, 49 mm for 06201-02 — the dimensions are the identity of the part. Length here is the working length, not the overall dimension, which is why two similar tubes are not interchangeable. The tube carries the end cap threads, so damaged threads mean a new tube rather than a repair. A tube that has been bottomed hard often shows a ring mark; that is a reason to replace it.
Why the Original
The part is identical to what Öhlins fits in production — same supplier, same specification. Öhlins is one of the few suspension makers that still supplies every position in the exploded view as a single part. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute.
How to Be Sure It Fits
If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 06201-02. The published dimensions are diameter 46 mm, length 49 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. The cylinder tube is the working bore of the damper: the piston runs in it, and its finish decides how well the piston rings seal. A tube that has been bottomed hard often shows a ring mark; that is a reason to replace it.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
