DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a Ninja 400 the clutch lever is the part that gets replaced after the first tip-over. The ISS119LA puts 132 mm guard length of aluminium between the Ninja 400 clutch lever and whatever reaches it. The bushes are offered in 8 finishes — the full list is in the specifications below. Sold individually, so a Ninja 400 needs one per side if you want both covered.
Key Features
- Anodised rather than painted, so a scuff does not show raw metal on the Ninja 400
- The anodised end is the wear part and is renewed on its own
- Stiffer than the polymer version, at the cost of a few grams on the Ninja 400
- Colour changes the look of the Ninja 400, not the fit
- Original Ninja 400 controls stay exactly where they are
- 8 bush colours, all at the same price
Fitting It to the Bike
Fitting the ISS119LA to a Ninja 400 is a bar-end job with hand tools. Leave the final torque until the angle is right; the guard should sit parallel to the lever. The original controls of the Ninja 400 stay in place throughout.
Why Aluminium
The clutch lever of a Ninja 400 is unprotected from the factory. The ISS119LA is machined from solid aluminium and anodised at the end that touches down. On the Ninja 400 the extra grams buy a guard that does not give.
Fitment
LighTech lists the ISS119LA for the Kawasaki Ninja 400. The guard mounts to the bar end of the Ninja 400 via the matching LighTech adapter.
What You Get
The package holds the guard, its bushes and the fasteners. Bushes are part of the guard; the adapter for the Ninja 400 is the value chosen under “Adapter”. LighTech keeps the ISS119LA in its spare-parts programme rather than treating it as disposable.
Choosing the Adapter
There is a second part number involved in fitting the ISS119LA. The Ninja 400 handlebar has its own bore, and the adapter has to match it exactly. The matching adapter is KPL304; it is the preselected value of the “Adapter” option, because the guard alone is not a complete installation. Already running KPL304? Then “Without Adapter” is the value for you.
Approval and Track Rules
Clutch lever guards are rarely mandated, which does not make them pointless. The ISS119LA is sold without approval paperwork. For road use, clarify it before fitting if the Ninja 400 is registered.
