DescriptionThe whole story

The 990 Supermoto covers three versions including the touring-oriented T, all on one stand switch part.

Key Features

  • Covers KTM 990 Supermoto, Supermoto R and Supermoto T, 2008–2013
  • Simulates the original side stand switch
  • Six model years, three specifications
  • Direct fit on the standard connector
  • Lets the bike start with the stand removed
  • Fully reversible

Three Bikes From One Idea

KTM built the SM as a road supermoto, the R with better suspension and the T with a screen and luggage. They are used very differently and share the engine, the loom and the interlock circuit entirely.

The T Sees the Most Weather

The touring version is the one ridden through winter and parked outside at hotels. That is the usage pattern that ends a low-mounted switch, and it is why the T is over-represented among the failures.

A Model Line That Ended

KTM stopped building the 990 SM in 2013. Anything defined by the model code has been getting scarcer since; something built around the switch connector has not.

Fitment

  • KTM 990 Supermoto (2008–2010)
  • KTM 990 Supermoto R (2009–2014)
  • KTM 990 Supermoto T (2009–2013)

Road Approval

None. The side stand switch is a safety interlock required for road use. Closed-circuit and race use only.
