DescriptionThe whole story

The JP KS KA024 is the keyless ignition switch for the Ninja 400: no barrel, no key and no steering lock, on a machine that has no use for any of them.

Key Features

  • Kawasaki Ninja 400 (2018–2024)
  • Replaces the original ignition block, key and lock
  • Around 350 g off the top yoke
  • CNC-machined from solid Ergal
  • IP69K sealed push button
  • Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector

The Club Racer's Bike

More Ninja 400s are raced than almost any other small motorcycle, because the class rules suit them and the parts are cheap. Preparation on one is a well-worn path.

IP69K

The rating covers high-pressure, high-temperature washing. A switch sitting in the open above the front wheel needs it and most switches do not have it.

Where the Weight Sits

High and forward, above the steering head. Mass in that position works against the rider on every direction change, which is why the figure is worth more than it looks.

Race Kit Looms

Machines running a race harness expect a different arrangement, which is why some models appear twice in the catalogue under separate numbers.

Immobilisers

Where the key holds a transponder, the aerial around the barrel is part of the circuit. That question has to be answered before the barrel comes off, not after.

A Part for a Specific Situation

Machines that live between a van and a garage, are started by whoever is nearest and never spend a night in a street. That is the whole market for this.

Access Varies, Work Does Not

Some models expose the connector immediately, others need the tank lifted. The twenty minutes at the yoke are identical on all of them.

Not a Security Product

Removing a lock does the opposite of securing a motorcycle. Anybody keeping a bike anywhere unsupervised should think about that first.

The Point of It

A motorcycle that starts because somebody pressed a button, with nothing on the yoke that exists to satisfy a registration document.

Mass at the Steering Head

Weight above the fork crown resists the rider twice on every corner: once turning in and once picking the bike up. Three hundred and fifty grams there is worth considerably more than the same amount removed from under the seat.
