DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Tracer 7 is a touring bike, and it is the least likely machine in this list to have its ABS removed for riding reasons. The owners who buy this part are almost always dealing with a failed control unit and an estimate they consider unreasonable.
Key Features
- For the Yamaha Tracer 7, 2020–2024
- Simulates the ABS module
- Clears the permanent ABS warning after a unit failure
- Direct fit on the standard connector
- Same part as the MT-07 it is based on
- Fully reversible
The Failure Behind Most of These Sales
ABS control units are sealed, expensive and not economically repairable. When one fails on a bike a few years old, the replacement quote can be a serious fraction of what the motorcycle is worth. The dash lights up, the system stops working, and the owner starts looking for alternatives. That is how most people arrive at this page.
Why That Reasoning Does Not Work Here
Silencing the lamp does not restore the braking. A Tracer 7 is a heavy, luggage-carrying motorcycle ridden long distances in whatever weather the trip provides — the exact conditions ABS exists for. Making the warning disappear on a road bike leaves you with a machine that brakes worse and looks like it does not. On this model, replacing the unit is the answer.
Where It Does Belong
A Tracer being retired from the road and used as a track hack is a different case, and that is what this part is for. The distinction is not a formality — it is the whole basis on which this is sold.

Road Approval
None. This is the point that decides the question on a Tracer. ABS has been mandatory on new motorcycles above 125 cc across the EU since 1 January 2016; a bike that had it removed is outside its type approval and cannot legally be used on the road. A silenced warning lamp changes none of that — it only makes the fault harder for the next owner to spot.
