DescriptionThe whole story▼

A fallen tree across the trail is one of the classic enduro obstacles. It looks simple enough, but a Husqvarna FE 450 that meets a log at the wrong angle, or with its rider in the wrong place, can stop dead, slide sideways along the bark or pitch the rider forward over the bars. The technique for getting over cleanly is well known, and nearly all of it happens through the throttle, the clutch and the footpegs. The enlarged Ergal footpegs that Accossato makes for the FE 450 of 2017 to 2023 come in orange or black.

Key Features

  • Enlarged footpegs for the Husqvarna FE 450 of 2017 to 2023

  • Orange or black

Construction and Material Quality

The FR798 is described by Accossato in a few words, and we will not stretch them: enlarged footpegs in Ergal, for motocross, enduro and off-road riding. Ergal is a high-strength alloy of aluminium. The enlarged design gives the boot a broader base, which matters when the rider has to move the body quickly from the back of the bike to the front. You get a left and a right peg, and for the FE 450 of these model years the colour is either orange or black.

Crossing a Fallen Tree

Approach the log as close to a right angle as the trail allows, standing, in a low gear and at a steady pace. Just before the front wheel arrives, a short burst of throttle, often combined with a quick pull on the bars and a push down through the pegs, lifts the front onto or over the log. When the front is across and the underside of the bike or the rear wheel meets the wood, the rider moves the weight forward to unload the rear, so the back of the bike can climb over rather than bounce off.

Wet logs are far more slippery than they look, and a log crossed at an angle will try to push the tyres sideways, so the approach matters as much as the technique. On a big four-stroke like the FE 450 a gentle, controlled throttle is usually enough; too much and the rear wheel spins on the bark. Throughout, the feet are the pivot of the whole movement, with the weight shifting from the heels towards the balls of the feet as the bike goes over. Practise on a small log first and work up gradually.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the FR798 for FE 450 model years 2017 to 2023. The FE 450 of 2014 to 2016 takes the FR795 instead, and the bikes of 2024 to 2026 the FR809. Compare the photos and colours and make sure of your model year before ordering; if you would like us to check, just send us the details. We list the same FR798 for the GasGas EC 250, the GasGas MC 450F and the Husqvarna FC 250.

Road Approval

We have no ABE or approval document for these pegs, so they are offered for use in competition.
