DescriptionThe whole story▼
A big four-stroke enduro is ridden standing up more often than not. On rough ground a TM Racing EN 450 four-stroke is steered with the legs and the weight on the pegs, while the hands stay light on the bar and the left one works the clutch. How the lever sits under the fingers in that position matters more than many riders realise. Accossato's C7283 gives the EN 450 four-stroke of 2010 to 2019 a folding clutch lever, CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, with a blade long enough for four fingers.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the TM Racing EN 450 four-stroke, 2010 to 2019
- Mounts at the original clutch control, replacing the stock lever
- Long blade that gives four fingers room
- Anti-break hinge allows the blade to tip forward
- Machined from a solid billet of Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black, blue, orange or red, base in a dark finish
- No German ABE documented; for off-road and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Every C7283 is cut from solid Ergal 7075, an aluminium alloy with high strength, on CNC machines in Italy. Accossato's reasons are strength, reliability and a low weight. The lever is built in two parts: a dark base that stays on the pivot of the original clutch control, and a blade hung on a hinge, in black, blue, orange or red. Accossato makes the clutch blade longer than the brake blade and designs it for four fingers, which is what allows the whole hand to work the lever when the rider is up on the pegs.
Set Up for Standing
When you stand on the pegs, your forearms drop and your wrists meet the bar at a different angle than when seated. Many enduro riders therefore turn the clutch and brake controls slightly downwards on the bar, so that the wrist stays straight and the fingers fall naturally onto the levers. With a long, four-finger blade such as the C7283, the whole hand can then pull the clutch without the elbow rising, which helps when the EN 450 four-stroke has to be eased over a rocky step or through a deep rut while standing.
Standing riders also fall differently. Often they step off as the bike goes down and let it fall alone, and a 450 four-stroke dropped from that height lands hard on its side. If that is the left side, the clutch lever takes the blow. The hinge between base and blade lets the C7283 fold forward rather than break at the tip, so the lever has a good chance of surviving a fall from which the rider walks away unhurt. It is not a guarantee, but it can spare you the ride back with a stub where the lever used to be.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7283 fits the TM Racing EN 450 four-stroke built between 2010 and 2019, at the original clutch control. The B8206 folding brake lever covers a longer period of the same bike, from 2003. Choose black, blue or red if you want the two sides to match; the clutch lever also comes in orange, the brake lever in gold.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE on file for the C7283. With this lever fitted, a road-registered EN 450 four-stroke is not approved for public roads; the lever is intended for off-road riding and competition.
Scope of Delivery
