DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many riders keep two fingers on the clutch lever all the time, a habit learned in traffic that makes sense in a busy town. The trouble starts when those fingers press, even slightly: a clutch held just short of full engagement slips, wears and heats up without the rider noticing. On a GSX-S750 ridden every day, the lever's set-up decides whether resting fingers stay harmless. Accossato's ESS248 is a machined aluminium clutch lever for the GSX-S750 of 2017 to 2021, with a reach you can adjust.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Suzuki GSX-S750, 2017 to 2021
- Replaces the original lever at the stock clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable to your hand
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm; short and long in some colours
- Aluminium machined on CNC equipment, anodised
- Black hub, blade in seven colours
- Fixed blade, nothing folds
Construction and Material Quality
The ESS248 is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and then anodised, a process that converts the surface into a hard oxide layer and locks the colour inside it. Accossato anodises the hub black and the blade in the colour you select. Inside the hub are the pivot and the reach adjuster, which together decide where the blade rests. With no folding joint along its length, the lever passes the clutch's take-up straight to your fingers.
Resting Fingers and a Slipping Clutch
A clutch should be fully engaged, fully disengaged or slipping, and slipping is meant for moments: pulling away, crawling in a queue, turning tightly. Fingers that rest on the lever with a little weight can hold it in that state for miles. The rider feels nothing, but the plates wear, and over time the clutch may start to slip under hard acceleration. Two things decide whether this happens. The first is free play at the clutch: with enough of it, light pressure from resting fingers only takes up slack and does not begin to disengage anything. The second is reach. Set the ESS248 so that your fingers can find the blade instantly from the grip, and there is no longer any reason to leave them on it along open roads. Cover the lever in town, where you need it, and let the hand rest on the grip elsewhere. If you ever notice the revs rising without the GSX-S750 gaining speed, check the free play first and your riding habits second.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESS248 for the GSX-S750 from 2017 to 2021, including a Special Edition from 2017 to 2019 and an entry labelled MotoGP for 2019. It takes the place of the stock lever at the original clutch mounting. The EDF014 brake lever covers the GSX-S750 over the same years, so both sides can be matched. Silver is made short or standard, black and red standard only.
Road Approval
This clutch lever is sold for track use, because no German ABE has been documented for it.
