DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Trophy 1200 is Triumph's big, fully faired tourer: a three-cylinder engine, shaft drive, an electrically adjustable screen and a riding position made for long days. Bikes like this spend hours at motorway speed, and the moment they leave the motorway is one of the most underrated of any trip. Accossato's EDF014 for the Trophy 1200 of 2013 to 2017, SE included, is a brake lever machined from aluminium that fits the original master cylinder, with an adjustable distance from the grip.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Triumph Trophy 1200 and Trophy 1200 SE, 2013 to 2017
- Replaces the original lever on the stock master cylinder
- Reach adjustable at the hub
- Standard blade roughly 138 mm, short and long in selected colours
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Black hub, blade in one of seven colours
- Fixed lever with no folding joint
- No German ABE on record, sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
On a long trip, a tourer's brake lever is touched thousands of times, by summer gloves, winter gloves and wet ones. The EDF014 answers with a finish that belongs to the metal: it is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodised, a process that turns the surface into a hard, coloured oxide instead of covering it. The hub is always black and carries the pivot as well as the reach adjuster. The blade, coloured to your order, is rigid from end to end, with no joint in it that could loosen over the miles.
Leaving the Motorway
After an hour or two at a steady motorway pace, your sense of speed recalibrates. A speed that would feel brisk on a country road now feels like a crawl, and the tight curve at the end of the slip road comes up faster than it seems to. Road-safety trainers know the effect well, and behind a full fairing, which keeps the wind away and the noise down, the impression of speed is dulled further. Trust the speedometer rather than your feeling, and begin braking at the start of the slip road, not at its end. Brake in stages: a first, gentle squeeze as you leave the main carriageway, a firmer one once the bike has settled, and a last look at the speedometer before the curve. A lever within easy reach makes that first squeeze natural after hours in which the right hand has held one position and the fingers have stiffened a little. Set the reach in your touring gloves with the Trophy upright, not leaning on its side stand, so the wrist sits at its riding angle.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF014 for both the Trophy 1200 and the Trophy 1200 SE, each from 2013 to 2017, and the lever replaces the original part on the stock master cylinder. For the left hand, Accossato makes the ESC777 clutch lever for the same bikes and years, so a matching pair is possible. Long blades are made in blue, gold, green and orange, short ones also in silver, while black and red come as standard levers.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on file for this brake lever; it is offered for use on the circuit.
