DescriptionThe whole story

The Suzuki GSX-R 1000 in its 2017–2023 form is an uncompromising litre-class machine, and TGP MotoRacing's Hyperdiscs aluminium clutch discs are engineered to match that character precisely. By replacing the standard steel intermediate plates with coated aluminium discs, the Hyperdiscs reduce rotating mass within the clutch pack — delivering a noticeably more responsive drivetrain that rewards both daily spirited riding and focused track sessions alike.

Key Features

  • Coated aluminium intermediate plates replace heavy OEM steel discs, cutting rotational inertia in the clutch pack
  • Precision-matched configuration of 7 × 2.3 mm plates plus 1 × 2.5 mm plate gives a total pack depth of 18.7 mm for correct engagement and clean separation
  • Improved heat dissipation compared to steel — aluminium conducts heat more efficiently, maintaining a consistent clutch feel during aggressive riding
  • Reduces back-torque judder under hard downshifts, keeping the rear wheel settled on corner entry
  • Exact fitment for the GSX-R 1000 (2017–2023) wet, oil-bath clutch system — drop-in installation with no modification required
  • Suitable for road and track use wherever sharper throttle response and quicker engine rev-up are the priority

Performance Gains in Detail

Reducing rotating mass in the clutch pack has a cascade effect on how the GSX-R 1000 feels through every phase of riding. The engine revs more freely on the way out of a corner because there is less inertia resisting acceleration. Throttle response sharpens noticeably — the bike reacts to the wrist rather than lagging behind it. On the brakes, the lighter assembly reduces the gyroscopic effect that can unsettle the rear under aggressive downshifts, giving the rider greater confidence to brake later and harder.

The aluminium construction also plays a thermal role. Under sustained track use, clutch temperatures rise with repeated starts and aggressive engagement. The superior thermal conductivity of aluminium versus steel helps dissipate that heat more evenly across the pack, preserving a consistent bite point across a full session rather than fading as temperatures climb.

Fitment & Compatibility

The TGP MotoRacing Hyperdiscs are dimensioned precisely for the wet, oil-bath clutch fitted to the following model:

  • Suzuki GSX-R 1000 — model years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

These discs are not compatible with Suzuki models equipped with a dry clutch or any clutch system that differs from the standard wet oil-bath configuration of the above years. Always verify your model specification before ordering.

Installation Recommendation

For the best possible performance and long-term durability, TGP MotoRacing recommend fitting the Hyperdiscs alongside new or near-new friction plates. A complete clutch pack with fresh friction plates and the Hyperdiscs intermediate plates delivers a stable, consistent bite point and resists premature wear — the ideal foundation for any rider who pushes hard on track or on the road.
