Sprint Filter makes five media. For the airbox of the Shotgun 650 it lists three of them: a 14 µm non-woven, this 80 µm weave and an 85 µm racing cloth. Both outer rungs of the wider range are missing here. There is no water-repellent P037 drawn for this housing, and no T12 for open ground and desert air either, so what looks like a ladder is really a fenced-off stretch of one. Whatever lies outside the fence is met by procedure rather than by another part number, and the CM265S sits in the middle of what remains.
Key Features
- One layer of dry woven polyester, filtering at 80 µm with a rated 5,050 l/m²/sec
- No oil at any stage of its life, so there is no dose to judge and nothing that can travel downstream
- About double the filtering area of other performance elements, inside the untouched series housing
- Takes the place of the factory panel precisely: no adaptor, no ducting changes, no fuelling work
- Brought back to its rated condition with compressed air instead of being thrown away
- Built to last the life of the motorcycle, with two years of warranty from purchase
Where the range stops, and why that is fair
Elsewhere in its catalogue Sprint Filter answers standing water with the P037, a water-repellent weave rated at 37 µm and 4,500 l/m²/sec, and that element is not drawn for this box. It is not a hole in the protection. Every medium offered here is dry by design and dries out again, so a soaked panel is a job for a warm afternoon rather than a failure. The far end of the range, the T12 at 7 µm for ground where the air is more dust than air, is absent as well. Between 14 and 85 microns is the whole of what Sprint Filter offers this motorcycle, which is a fair account of where a Shotgun is ridden.
What is left to decide
Two rungs, then, and not ranked. The non-woven holds particles down to 14 µm and flows 1,800 l/m²/sec against the 5,050 of this weave: more retention bought with less flow, a trade settled by the roads a particular machine sees rather than by which figure reads better. Neither of them adds power. A drop-in element does not make a standard motorcycle noticeably stronger, whichever medium is in the box. The woven polyester earns its place with a low intake restriction that can be restored service after service, instead of drifting quietly upwards until the panel is replaced.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air on the clean face of the CM265S, worked outwards, covers ordinary servicing: the load leaves the way it came in. Greasy deposits want lukewarm water and a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear. After that it is open air and patience. Heat is the one thing the fabric will not survive, so no gun, no radiator and no flame, and the element goes back into the box dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet is filed under Downloads.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, 2024 to 2026. The same element is listed for two more 650s, the Super Meteor from 2023 and the Classic from 2025, three machines on one part number. Confirm your own model year in the Fitment tab.
