DescriptionThe whole story▼
Born from Puig's active involvement in MotoGP and WorldSBK, the GP Winglets Front Spoiler for the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 (2017–2023) delivers measurable aerodynamic gains that you will feel the moment you open the throttle on a straight or brake deep into a corner. This is race-derived downforce technology made road-legal — no drilling, no irreversible modifications, no compromise.
Key Features
- Increased front-end downforce generated directly above the front wheel for sharper, more confident turn-in
- Anti-shimmy effect that keeps the front wheel planted and tracking true at high speed
- Pronounced anti-wheelie benefit under hard acceleration, keeping the front wheel in contact with the tarmac for maximum drive
- Improved braking stability — the front end stays composed and predictable under the hardest stops
- Reduced lateral movement through fast direction changes and chicanes
- ABE approval (ABE 31948) and TÜV-tested — fully road-legal in Germany and across Europe
- Plug-and-play fitment: no drilling, no cutting, no specialist tools required
- Winglet profile optimised in a virtual wind tunnel, drawing directly on Puig's MotoGP aerodynamic research
Aerodynamic Performance
The winglet shape was refined using virtual wind-tunnel simulation. Airflow is captured, accelerated and directed downward onto the front axle, translating speed into usable downforce rather than drag. The practical results are immediate: the GSX-R 1000 tracks more calmly on long straights, responds with greater precision on corner entry, and holds its line more securely through high-speed direction changes. On track the gains are especially apparent under braking and at the exit of slow corners where front-end load determines how early you can get the power down. On fast public roads the same aerodynamic composure transforms the feel of the bike at motorway speeds and beyond.
Materials and Construction
Puig engineered these winglets to withstand the aerodynamic stresses encountered at racing speeds without adding unnecessary mass. The winglet blades themselves are formed from impact-resistant PMMA, chosen for its optical quality and excellent resistance to fatigue under cyclic aerodynamic loading. The mounting brackets are produced in high-grade thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), which absorbs minor impacts while maintaining precise alignment of the winglet profile. All edges are rounded in accordance with applicable safety standards. The entire assembly is designed and manufactured at Puig's facility in Barcelona, where the same engineering team supplies aerodynamic components to top-level racing programmes.
Available Variants
Three finish options are available to match the GSX-R 1000's original fairing colour or to create a deliberate visual contrast:
- Gloss black — REF. 22075N
- Matte black — REF. 22075J
- Carbon look — REF. 22075C
Fitment and Compatibility
Designed and developed exclusively for the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 covering model years 2017 through 2023. The kit uses existing fairing mounting points; no modification to the original bodywork is required.
Installation
- Straightforward plug-and-play installation — no drilling or cutting necessary
- No specialist tools required
- Supplied with a full installation guide, aerodynamic study documentation and the ABE road-use approval certificate
- An additional video tutorial is available online from Puig
