Graffiti That Is Paint
The RVE's scheme is applied through a multi-stage painting process rather than as a vinyl wrap. It costs more to produce and it is still intact on bikes that have covered serious mileage.
A Quickshifter as Standard
The RVE adds the bidirectional unit to the base specification. On a supermoto with this much torque it is used at every junction rather than reserved for a circuit.
Where the Menus Live
Modes, traction, wheelie control and the display, all on this side of the bar. On a bike ridden as variously as a Hypermotard, those settings genuinely change through a single day.
Black, Red or Titanium
Each grown into the aluminium electrochemically. Against a livery this busy, black is unambiguously the quietest and probably the correct choice.
Grit, Then Water
Supermotos collect dust and road debris before they collect rain, and unlike water it never evaporates out of a joint. Sealed elements give it nowhere to settle at all.
Extended, Not Limited
The RVE began as a limited proposition and Ducati kept building it because demand refused to stop. It is now the version most people picture when they think of a 950.
A Hundred and Fourteen Horsepower
In a chassis with long travel and bars wide enough to steer with. The Hypermotard's specification reads modestly and it is quicker on a difficult road than almost anything else Ducati sells.
Standing, Not Sitting
Ridden properly, the rider is off the seat through most of a corner with weight over the pegs. Everything about the bike, including where the controls sit, follows from that.
Sold Longer Than Planned
The RVE was announced as a limited proposition and Ducati kept building it for years because demand refused to stop. It became the default rather than the exception.
