DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 022 removes the side stand interlock from the Scrambler 800's decision making, which matters on a machine with no stand fitted and nothing to interlock with.
Key Features
- Ducati Scrambler 800 (2015–2026)
- Answers the side stand input
- Lets the engine run in gear with no stand fitted
- Plugs into Ducati's own connector
- Nothing cut, nothing spliced
- Standard switch refits at any time
Available Restricted
An A2 version keeps the Scrambler within a limited licence, which is a considerable part of why it sells to riders who have never owned a Ducati.
Keep It on a Road Bike
With a stand still fitted the interlock is doing real work. Disabling it turns an easy mistake into a locked rear wheel at a junction.
What Failure Looks Like
The engine cuts as a gear is selected at a junction, restarts perfectly in neutral and behaves for a fortnight afterwards. It is the intermittency that makes it so unpleasant to trace.
Five Minutes, Genuinely
The connector sits near the swingarm pivot and needs no bodywork removed on most models. It is the shortest job on any list.
Salt Finds It First
Everything low on the left of a motorcycle used through a European winter spends months in salt spray, and this switch is closest to the road.
A Common Winter Complaint
Sidestand switches fail disproportionately in spring, after a season of salt and a period of storage with a damp connector.
Where It Lives
Low on the left of the engine, in the path of everything the front wheel throws up. The body is potted for that reason, and it should be tied off so it cannot hang into the chain run or against the exhaust.
Diagnosing Before Deleting
A stand switch that has failed produces exactly the behaviour a missing one does, so it is worth knowing which situation applies. On a road machine the correct answer is usually a new switch; on a track machine the switch was coming off anyway and the eliminator is the shorter route.
An Air-Cooled Engine and a Simple Loom
The Scrambler uses the old air-cooled twin and one of the least complicated wiring looms Ducati still builds, which makes the side stand circuit easy to reach and easy to understand. It is also a machine people modify heavily, and the stand is often among the first things to go.
