DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 024 seals the Ninja 500's secondary air path at the cylinder head with a solid cover.
Key Features
- Kawasaki Ninja 500 (2024–2026)
- Blanks the secondary air ports in the head
- Machined from solid aluminium
- O-ring sealed, no jointing compound
- Original fastener positions
- Standard housing refits at any time
A New Dashboard
Kawasaki fitted a colour screen with connectivity, which the 400 never had and which buyers at this price now expect.
The Practical Choice
More torque low down means less gearchanging in traffic, which is where most of these motorcycles spend their lives.
Original Fastener Positions
The cover picks up the threads the housing used, at the figures Kawasaki specifies for them. No hole is opened out and no thread in the head is touched.
Access
The tank and frequently the airbox come off to reach the housing, which is why this belongs in the same session as the electrical half or any other work under there.
The Hose Port Stays Open
Removing the housing leaves an opening at the airbox unless that end is closed too, and unfiltered air into an intake is worse than the system ever was.
Do the Airbox End Too
An open port in the intake is a worse outcome than the system ever was, so both ends need closing in the same session rather than across two.
Not the Electrical Fault
The panel warning comes from the solenoid circuit and nothing else. Fitting the cover alone leaves the lamp exactly where it was, which surprises a number of people.
Where the Soot Shows
Inside the airbox and on the filter, downstream of a cracked reed. It is the cheapest diagnosis available anywhere on the system.
A New Engine, Same Idea
Kawasaki enlarged the twin for 2024 and kept everything that made the 400 work. Owners moving between the two find almost nothing has changed except the amount of drive available below six thousand.
Where the Hardware Sits
On a small twin there is very little spare room, and the emissions components end up wherever they fit rather than where they would be convenient. Reaching them takes longer on this motorcycle than the part price suggests.
