DescriptionThe whole story▼

This shark fin carries a folded bracket at its trailing end, with the fixing hole in the flange rather than in the blade. It is the second of two fins Fullsix lists for this bike.

Key Features

  • Shark fin with an angled bracket at the rear
  • 200 Plain weave, clear coat, matt, satin or raw
  • Autoclave-cured, bracket moulded as part of the blade
  • The alternative fin, MD-9912-C16F, uses a bushed eye at the front
  • Fits the 1199 and the 1299 Panigale

Which of the Two You Need

Both fins carry the same part name in the manufacturer's catalogue and the same model list, and that is not helpful when ordering. The difference is entirely in how they attach: this one bolts through a flange that stands off the blade at an angle, at the rear of the fin.

Look at the bike before choosing. If the mounting point sits behind the fin position and the fastener goes in at an angle to the blade, this is the part. We have asked Fullsix to clarify the split and will update the listing when they answer.

A Moulded Bracket Is a Stress Point

Where a flange turns out of a flat blade, the laminate changes direction, and that corner carries whatever load the fastener applies. It is the reason to torque this one by feel and stop early rather than to pull it down hard.

Fitment and Compatibility

Ducati 1299 Panigale, model years 2015 to 2017, with the mounting point behind the fin position.

Road Approval

Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. It maintains the sprocket guarding that construction rules require in several markets.

Fitting

Offer the fin up and confirm the flange sits flat against its mount before the fastener goes in. A bracket pulled down across a gap loads the corner in bending, which is the one direction this shape does not like.
