DescriptionThe whole story▼
An aftermarket exhaust for a hybrid motorcycle. The Ninja 7 Hybrid pairs a 451 cc parallel twin with an electric motor and a battery, and it is the first production hybrid motorcycle sold in Europe — so this is one of the first performance parts anyone has built for one.
Key Features
- 2.44 kg against the standard 4.22 kg: 1.8 kg and 42.2 per cent less
- Newly designed titanium muffler with an imprinted surface for strength and durability
- Carbon fibre end cap and heat shield
- Stainless steel link pipe and inner muffler structure
- 1.7 PS and 1.3 Nm more at 8,400 rpm
- Aesthetics, sound and weight reduction named as the three development goals
- EC and ECE type approved
Weight Matters More on a Hybrid
The Ninja 7 Hybrid carries a combustion engine, an electric motor, a battery and the electronics to manage all three. It weighs 227 kg — considerably more than a conventional 450, and most of that difference is battery mass low in the frame.
Taking 1.8 kg off the exhaust does not close that gap, but it removes mass from the one place the battery is not: high and behind the rear axle. On a motorcycle carrying this much hardware, every kilogram that comes off the top is worth more than it would be on a lighter bike.
An Imprinted Surface
The pattern pressed into the titanium sleeve adds strength and durability rather than only appearance — a profiled wall resists denting better than a smooth one of the same thickness. Akrapovic uses the same approach on parts destined for adventure bikes, and it applies here for a different reason: a heavier motorcycle falls harder.
One Model Year, and What That Means
The fitment for this part is 2024 only. Kawasaki launched the Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z7 Hybrid that year, and Akrapovic's homologation covers that model year alone. If your machine is a later one, ask us before ordering — a hybrid drivetrain is exactly the kind of platform a manufacturer revises early.
It also means the part is made in small numbers. Hybrid motorcycles are a new category with few examples on the road, and a type-approved titanium exhaust for one is a genuinely rare object.
What Stays Standard
The header, the catalytic converter, the engine management and the entire hybrid control system are untouched. This is a slip-on: it changes the last section of the exhaust path and nothing that talks to the electric motor or the battery.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-K4SO9-HRT covers the Kawasaki Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z7 Hybrid for model year 2024. Installation is quoted at around 30 minutes and the removable noise insert is supplied.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, with the certificates supplied and downloadable here. The silencer is a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union.
