DescriptionThe whole story▼

The RC8 R was KTM's V-twin superbike, powered by an engine from the LC8 family and dressed in sharp, angular bodywork that still stands out in any paddock. KTM no longer builds it, so owners who keep one on track have to think a little more about parts than riders of current machines. In our shop, Accossato's FC115 is listed for this bike alone, for the RC8 R 1190 from 2009 to 2016. It is a quick-release fuel tank cap, CNC-machined from aluminium, with a pawl whose pin you choose from six colours.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the KTM RC8 R 1190, 2009 to 2016
  • Accossato also names three special editions of 2009
  • Aluminium body machined on CNC equipment
  • Quick-closing pawl for fast opening and closing
  • Pin colours: green, gold, silver, red, blue, black
  • Replacement pawl available separately
  • No German ABE on record; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato, a company that started out in Moncalieri in 1969, machines the FC115 entirely from aluminium on CNC equipment and presents it as robust and durable, with an attractive new design. Opening the RC8 R's tank is a matter of releasing the quick-closing pawl, and closing it takes no longer. The pin on the pawl comes in six colours, chosen with your order. If the pawl is damaged, Accossato supplies it as a separate spare, which suits the logic of the whole product: repair the small part rather than replacing everything.

Keeping a Discontinued V-Twin on Track

Riding an RC8 R on circuits today means running a bike that has gone out of production, and that changes how you plan. Consumables are rarely a problem, but specific parts can take time to find, and a crash may keep the bike in the garage for longer than it would a current model. Owners deal with this in sensible ways. They keep a small stock of the parts that tend to break in a typical tumble, such as levers and footrests, and they favour components that can be repaired rather than replaced. A tank cap with a pawl that is sold separately belongs in that second group: if the FC115's pawl is bent in a slide, a new pawl puts the cap back in service while the rest stays on the bike. Make a note of the pin colour you chose, so a replacement matches. And store the RC8 R's original cap carefully, wrapped and labelled, because it may not be as easy to buy new as it once was.

Fitment and Compatibility

On Accossato's application list, the FC115 covers the RC8 1190 R from 2009 to 2016, and three special editions of 2009 are named individually. We list no other motorcycle for this cap. As always, check your RC8 R against the list before ordering, particularly if parts around the tank have been changed.

Road Approval

The FC115 has no German ABE, and no parts certificate is documented, so it is intended for closed circuits. On public roads the RC8 R needs its original cap back, which normally uses the ignition key.
