DescriptionThe whole story▼

Short circuits are harder on brakes than long ones. A kart track or a tight club layout has a corner every few seconds and no straight worth the name, so the front brake never gets the cooling lap it would enjoy at a grand prix venue. A Scrambler Icon lapping one of those, with a timer on the bars and a rider hunting for a tenth, works its single disc continuously. For that Accossato lists the AGPA177 in the EV2 racing material as article AGPA177EV2, the compound at the top of its competition range. Cover starts with the 2015 season.

Key Features

  • Front pads for the Ducati Scrambler Icon, 2015 to 2026
  • AGPA177EV2: the AGPA177 shape in the EV2 racing material
  • Accossato's top competition compound for this pad shape
  • Intended for timed sessions rather than for the ride to work
  • The Icon Dark from 2020 shares the entry
  • One front disc, so one box fills the caliper
  • Also available in ST, EV1 and ZXC
  • No German ABE on file; competition use only

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato says little about this material beyond where it belongs, so the useful question is what a racing compound has to do on a tight circuit. It has to give the same lever position on the final lap of a session as on the third, when the disc has had no chance to cool and the rider is stopping later than they were an hour earlier. The AGPA177 plate is unchanged from the road versions, so a set goes in with ordinary tools between outings. Heat that stays in hand, and the lack of fade that follows from it, is the property the maker puts forward for the range.

Chasing a Tenth on a Tight Layout

Timed sessions turn riding into arithmetic. The lap board shows the same number three times running, so something has to change: a gear held longer, a different line into the hairpin, or a marker moved a length later. Moving the marker is the quickest way to find time and the quickest way to lose it, and on a Scrambler Icon, with one disc doing everything, the lever is the instrument the rider is reading.

Between outings the work is short and specific. Look at what is left of the friction material and at how evenly it has worn across the pad. Watch the fluid and the lever travel, since both report on heat before the lap times do. Keep the disc clean and free of anything sprayed nearby, and if a set goes in at lunchtime, use the opening laps of the afternoon to bed it rather than the first hard corner.

Fitment and Compatibility

The list runs from 2015 to 2026 for the Icon, with the Icon Dark added from 2020 and no gaps in between. One caliper takes one box. At the rear Accossato catalogues the AGPP91 over the same seasons, while the DK008 and the DKS074 are the discs it offers for the model. Machines from elsewhere in the 803 range carry their own dates, and a bike prepared for circuit use out of mixed parts is worth confirming rather than assuming.

Road Approval

Neither an ABE nor a German test report for the AGPA177EV2 is held here, so the pads are supplied for racing and for closed-course use.

Scope of Delivery

One box, two AGPA177 pads in the EV2 racing material, the set for a single caliper at the front of the Scrambler Icon.
