DescriptionThe whole story▼

Rear pads are the ones nobody plans for. They wear out slowly, out of sight, and the first sign is usually a pedal that needs more travel than it used to. For the Ducati Multistrada 1260 of 2018 to 2021, Accossato offers the AGPA29 in the EV1 street/track material as article AGPA29EV1, a compound the company puts forward for road use and for amateur circuit sessions, which between them describe how most of these machines are actually ridden.

Key Features

  • Rear brake pads for the Ducati Multistrada 1260, 2018 to 2021
  • AGPA29EV1: the AGPA29 shape carrying the EV1 street/track material
  • Accossato names both road riding and amateur circuit use
  • One material for a bike that tours and visits the occasional session
  • One rear caliper, so a single box changes the axle
  • Two pads to the box
  • OR, ST and STMX are the other versions of the shape
  • No German ABE in our records; competition part

Construction and Material Quality

The factory gives this material a two-part job description, road and amateur circuit, and at the back of a 1260 the second part is a smaller share of the work than it would be at the front. That is not an argument against it. A rear pad happy with both kinds of day is a rear pad an owner can fit and stop thinking about, which is what most people want from that end of a motorcycle. The AGPA29 plate is shared with every other version, so the suffix decides the material and nothing else.

The Pad Nobody Plans For

Front pads get changed because a rider notices them. The rear usually carries on until something draws attention to it: a pedal that sinks further than it should, a scraping noise on full lock in a car park, or a mechanic pointing it out during a service. On a Multistrada 1260 the rear caliper is tucked away where it is easy not to look, and the wear happens so gradually that a rider adapts without noticing, pressing a little harder each month.

The cure is a habit rather than a tool. Look at the rear pads whenever the chain is adjusted, since you are already at that end of the bike with a light in your hand. A single box covers this axle, so carrying a spare set on a long trip costs almost nothing in space. And when a new set goes in, press the pedal several times before riding away: the piston has been pushed back to make room, and the first application after a change is the one that finds out whether you remembered.

Fitment and Compatibility

The rear of the Multistrada 1260 is covered from 2018 to 2021 by this article, and with one caliper at that wheel a single box completes the change. The front listing for the same model is shorter, running only through 2018 under the AGPA106, so the two ends of the bike do not share a year range. The disc offered for this Multistrada is the DKS053. Where a machine has had work done by several hands, the pad that comes out is the reference worth trusting.

Road Approval

Neither an ABE nor a German test certificate exists here for the AGPA29EV1, and the pads are accordingly listed for competition use on closed courses.

Scope of Delivery

Two AGPA29 pads in the EV1 street/track material in one box, a complete rear set for the Multistrada 1260.
