DescriptionThe whole story▼

Plenty of enduros lead a double life. A second set of wheels with road tyres turns a GasGas EC 200 into something quite different for the summer, and even without that conversion an owner may cover more tarmac than trail in a given month. Accossato offers the AGPA51 front pad in the EV1 street/track material, article AGPA51EV1, for the EC 200 from 2000 to 2017. The company recommends the mixture for road riding and for amateur circuit use, which is a description of the bike's other life rather than of its muddy one.

Key Features

  • Front pads for the GasGas EC 200, model years 2000 to 2017
  • AGPA51EV1: the AGPA51 carrier with the EV1 street/track material
  • Accossato names public roads and amateur circuit sessions
  • For an enduro used on tarmac, with road wheels or without
  • One front disc on this bike, so a single box completes it
  • The AGPP106 is the rear article, listed for 2017
  • OR, ST and STMX are the alternatives on the same plate
  • No German ABE in our files; a competition article

Construction and Material Quality

The two settings the factory names have one thing in common, which is that the disc stays clean. On tarmac a pad is not being scoured by the surface it works on, so what matters instead is how it behaves as heat accumulates through a sequence of firm stops. Accossato's claim across the pad range is that temperature is kept within bounds and that fade is therefore held off, and a series of bends taken quickly is where that gets examined. The carrier is the shared AGPA51 plate, so this remains a choice about the friction surface while the fitting stays exactly as it was.

When the Wheels Change to Tarmac

A light two-stroke on road rubber is a curious and very entertaining machine. Grip arrives that the bike was never built to use, the brakes suddenly have something to push against, and the front end is asked for far more than it ever gets on a trail. The riding position stays high and wide, which encourages late, upright braking and gives the rider a good view of what is coming. It also means the front pad does nearly all the work, because a small two-stroke offers almost nothing in the way of engine braking to help.

A few things deserve attention before the first fast ride. Look at the front hose and the fluid, both of which are often overdue on a bike whose owner has been more interested in the suspension. Make sure the disc is straight and free of deep scoring, since a trail bike has usually taken a knock or two. Bed a new set in over a series of firm stops from moderate speed before asking anything serious of the EC 200, and remember that a set used off the road afterwards will need the mud cleaned out of the caliper before the next tarmac day.

Fitment and Compatibility

This front listing spans eighteen seasons, from 2000 to 2017, which makes it one of the longer entries in the catalogue and a reminder that the pad shape outlived several versions of the bike. The rear of the EC 200 is another case entirely, covered by the AGPP106 in 2017 and in no other year. Accossato lists no disc for this GasGas. A box is a caliper's worth and the front wheel carries one disc. On an enduro that has been through a rebuild, check the old pad before ordering rather than trusting the model year alone.

Road Approval

An ABE for the AGPA51EV1 does not exist in our records, and nor does a German inspection certificate. The pads are supplied for closed courses and organised events.

Scope of Delivery

One box with two AGPA51 pads in the EV1 street/track material, the set for a single front caliper.
